Description: The classic cube puzzle from the 70's on the Mac in all sizes with no mechanical tolerance issues even for any size. The demo version includes full access to the 2x2 and 3x3 cubes. Full access to the other sizes is available in a donation supported version.
Smooth animation using Quartz Extreme (accelerated openGL) is particularly attractive in the window-free mode. The cube appears to be just floating above your desktop. You can alternate between enclosing these cubes in a window or dissolving the surrounding window.
Three interface methods are provided allowing an individual to choose the most convenient. The mouse together with modifier keys allows for a wide variety of manipulations of the cube. The same set is available using the keyboard and modifier keys. A standard macro language can be used with drag and drop or copy and paste to also manipulate the cube.
The preferences allow a user to customize the cube's appearance and response characteristics. By default the user has access to nine cubes, one of each size, in any of the variety of views that are open.
Another available view is the Custom Cube creator. With a paint-style interface you can create a cube with an arbitrary pattern of tiles.
With this release we feature InfiniCube. The user can specify a cube of arbitrarlly many tiles per edge (subject to processing power and screen size practical limits).
Possibly more remarkable is that cubes have cubes nested inside. For example the 5x5 cube contains a 3x3 cube and it has a 1x1 cube at its core. The manipulations of the exterior cube causes corresponding changes in the nested cubes. Unlike a possible mechanical cube these levels can be viewed with a simple keystroke which allows nested levels to be visible (by making outer levels transparent). Now the challenge is to solve all the nested cubes simultaneously.
Now the skewb and octahedral skewb are included in the donation supported version. | Short tags: puzzle, cube, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, InfiniCube, nested cube, skewb, octahedron | System Requirements: Mac OS X 10.3 with Quartz Extreme support | Change Info: New puzzles added: skewb and octahedral skewb. Also control for visibility of puzzle parts for new challenges and interesting display. Corners, edges and faces can be visible or invisible. | |
