Description: CharDiff is a novel file and directory comparator.
CharDiff displays differences between files with character precision in your web browser and doing so overlays the compared files:
You can see the files in a single integrated view, with characters particular to one file or the other highlighted!
Along with the list of differences, whose entries are linked with the text, the "waggle effect", which draws your attention to selected differences, and the exact figures of the numbers of different characters, you receive a precise, clear, and readily accessible presentation of all the differences.
In addition, you can view each of the compared files on its own.
CharDiff can do even more: it also compares directories!
The directories' contents are again shown in an integrated view:
A single alphabetic list gives all files, and coloring indicates whether a file of a given name occurs identically or differently in both directories, or whether it is a member of only this or only that directory.
If the two instances of a file differ and the file's type allows a detailed comparison, the number of differences is shown, also the numbers of characters which are particular to this file or the other are displayed, and in addition the file name is linked with the result of a detailed file comparison!
CharDiff does not only deliver precise and clear results, the program is also dead easy to handle: You can do completely with drag & drop! You don't have to open a program, nor enter paths: Simply drag the files or directories to be compared on program "chardiff.exe!"
The two files reside in separate directories, which prevents a multiple selection? No problem, CharDiff works with the novel DropBi technique ("bi" = lat. "twice"):
Drop the first file on "chardiff.exe" and then the other! | Short tags: file compare, file comparison, directory compare, directory comparison, diff | System Requirements: Win98 or later; Java JRE 1.2 or later; Web browser; 500KB on disk; 10MB RAM | |
