Description:
Inbox filters do not work to stop Spammers. Email costs virtually nothing to send and a cleverly worded email can easily bypass even the best filtering scheme. If filtering is all we have for a defense against Spam, we are in a losing battle.
Instead of filtering Spam, SPAMReporter identifies the same weak links (unsecured PCs) the Spammer uses. Instead of blocking email, SPAMReporter notifies the ISP or Network Administrator that they may have a problem on their network, and supplies them with all the information and evidence they need to address the problem.
Most ISPs User Acceptance Policy (UAP) or Terms of Service clearly spell out that activity such as Spamming is not condoned. Whether the user is deliberately spamming or is an innocent pawn used by the real spammer, when identified, the ISP will usually close or suspend their account until a resolution to the problem is accepted.
