Description: SmartNewZ is a private News Server for Windows. SmartNewZ provides the ability to create an electronic discussion forum, where groups of people can post messages, read messages posted by others, and reply to them.
SmartNewZ is very easy to install and configure. You can be up and running within a few minutes of downloading it. No strange Unix commands. It will even take you just seconds to install it as an NT service if you want to!
Uses for a private News Server such as SmartNewZ are endless. You could create discussion groups to keep in touch with your family members or local community, organise activites between multiple different people, hold conference style discussions between people in remote locations, keep field based staff in touch with each other and many many more.
The SmartNewZ News Server also supports client authentication, which will allow you to keep your newsgroups private. You can create different newsgroups, and provide different userids and passwords to different people so some people can use some newsgroups and others can use other newsgroups. You might want to do this in order to segregate your personal and business discussions for example. In fact, people who log in using the userid/password combination used for personal discussions won't even know of the existence of the business newsgroups. You would probably use a third userid/password combination to allow you and other appropriate people access to all the newsgroups you created. | Short tags: VIRTUAL MEETING, NNTP, DISCUSSION GROUP, SERVER, WINDOWS, BULLETIN BOARD, NEWS | System Requirements: Win95 or above | |
