How often do you have a really unique (or simply precious) video you can’t view because of the «video-noise»? Video can come from old VHS tapes or be recorded from TV; you’d be happy to have the only copy with pure or at least slightly better quality! And you can — with Video DeNoise from Rising Research.
Video DeNoise is a free plug-in for the known to be the best free video-editor, VirtualDub. Video DeNoise for VirtualDub is a VERY simple and VERY efficient thing. Its operating principle is based on the analysis of each separate image (so there would be no «dynamic distortions» after it’s been applied). You can set amount of noise suppression separately for red, green, blue — and Video DeNoise will efficiently clear all noisy bright lines and points. When the noise removal is complete (which, by the way, can be previewed and performed very efficiently) the picture becomes definitely clearer and legible. A very useful side effect of such clearing is that the file becomes much more suitable for the MPEG4/DivX compression (the resulting compressed file would be smaller than the original video), as pictures with small artifacts are badly compressible.
