Back in the sixties, there were many scientists and journalists (both pessimistic and optimistic ones) supposing computers in near future would do artistic work. They still don’t, so, in today’s world there is a widespread pragmatic sight: computer certainly can’t do the art, but a human artist with a computer can sometimes do outstanding things, primarily because a computer would automate all the repetitive and computable (thus, non-creative) subtasks.
The above statement has its full strength especially in the «applied» arts. For garment designers, there is a really good way to «let computer do what it can» — The Cutter software.
