What is the today’s idea of the «advanced computer user»? I bet, that would be a user who is accustomed to *understanding* what is going on with his computer and its operating system and «feeling the pulse» of the entire system.
Unfortunately, «the most common operating system» (mean Microsoft Windows) doesn’t seems to be very friendly to such advanced users; its typical approach is: «don’t worry, don’t care». And when you really want to analyze your system and «feel its pulse», you would need some additional software — SIW (obviously, System Info for Windows).
This great «info-combine» gets you the handful of information on all aspects of computer’s operation. All the info is divided into three major groups: Software, Hardware, and Network. Virtually any information that can be retrieved theoretically will be retrieved by SIW. With the same efficiency, SIW retrieves both the «static», constant information (version of OS and software installed, manufacturers and models of hardware parts) and the «dynamic», this-moment-related information (files opened, processes running, network connections exist, also all hardware sensors). Thus you can use SIW for the overall control over the system.
