Serious work with remote Windows servers sometimes suffers from lack of control over those servers. Of course, letting just about ANYBODY to control your server is not the greatest idea. But the owner and administrator of the server often feel that their hands are tied when the computer is miles away, the support team is fast asleep and unlikely to respond quickly to a pager, and all that is needed is a quick system rebooot. Sometimes, rebooting a computer remotely is all you need to regain control of a server. Of course, you need to do this easily, quickly and securely. Use RemBoot (Remote Reboot Utility) and be happy!
Once RemBoot is installed on the computer to be rebooted remotely, you will only need to remember the «secret URL», login and password. If the computer is visible from the Internet (i.e., it has its own IP-address), any time the computer needs to be restarted you just visit the URL from any browser on any computer, enter the secret login and password and click «Reboot». Your quick conversation with your server is done entirely through the secure HTTPS protocol, via SSL, so nobody can «spy» on your actions (and steal your login or password).
RemBoot works on any «32-bit» Windows (from NT4 through XP and Win2003) and does its work as quickly and gracefully as possible. When you request a reboot, all running applications are asked «nicely» to «shutdown» and have a chance to exit normally (close all files, databases and connections).
