When you want to do something artistic, something creative, something completely new, you typically need to study the basics before. When you want to write a novel, you should learn writing, enrich your dictionary, and do lots of other «homework». When you want to paint, you should learn something about colors and brushes and paints, about mixing paints and drawing technique. And when you want to play drums, you should train your speed and accuracy to have the capability to improvise easily. BeatSpeed is just the software to help you control your speed and train it.
BeatSpeed just «listens» your strokes, counts them and measures the overall speed. The software can listen to either an audio input (microphone) or to electronic drums your play through a MIDI device. While you are playing, the software will show you the absolute number of strokes since the beginning of the sequence and the graph of your current speed (BPM, beats per minute) as well as current attempt average speed. There are different «time regimes», meaning the amount of time, during which your drumming speed is measured; for each time regime you should see a timer showing minutes remaining and score table, showing how much strokes you have achieved in this period previously.
BeatSpeed also contains metronome helping you to keep a certain tempo.
