For its time, Visual Basic 6 was an excellent tool. It was easy to learn, write and read, had reasonably good visual forms designer, allowed easy usage of ActiveX controls...
Unfortunately, those times have gone. Now, there is .NET, there is VC++ MFC, there are other IDE with form designers, like Delphi. There is no place for good old VB6. Old projects are to be translated to new environments, but it is not an easy, straight-through task. Rewriting algorithms from one language to another is only one part. The most complex job is recreating an entire project structure, including complex forms and dialogs. This job may seem almost impossible, unless you use a Really Good Conversion Tool. Like VBto.
As the name tells, the software addresses the problem of conversion of old *VB* projects *to* a huge number of «more alive» formats, namely Visual C++, .NET (C#, VB.NET and so on), Borland Delphi/C++Builder. For each case, the application creates all necessary target files, like form descriptions, sources, headers, resources, project files. The simplicity of the conversion is awesome: you just load VB source files to the program, optionally preview the forms and their components, and then select the conversion type you need. That’s all!
VBto handles all about types, classes, functions, events, comments... Besides, VBto Converter can generate a statistical report on the source VB6 project. Such information can be used for assessing the complexity of the project being converted. VBto Converter can also work as a VB6 project forms viewer. The corresponding features of the application do not have any license type restrictions, so they are fully operational in unregistered versions!
