Choosing a database for your Web project? Huge, slow and expensive SQL databases have occupied just about all spots of the Internet. But are they the only option?
Why not take a look back, at the good old DBF format, known since long ago for its light weight and low maintenance demands along with cutting-edge performance? The only concern you might have is how you’re going to connect it to your application in the world where just about everything is made for SQL.
An easy way to integrate a database into an application is using a special connectivity class, which would handle all the database-related transactions and toss data from and to the application. Check out cmVodbx32; a shareware database manager for the .DBF file format.

Written in CA Visual Object 2.8 and ClassMate 2.09 code, the software has become de-facto the fastest DBF connection manager on the market. It supports all the basic database functionality and introduces great new features like Memo Search; unlike in any other similar software, you can now perform the full-text search of your database and then edit search results in the text, rich-text or arrays format, in all languages.
This DLL will work great all over the world. Besides English, the developers have released the interface and help files in German and French languages. And what makes it truly international is its capability to adjust the decimal separator depending on the regional settings.
Finally, you can get the source code along with the software, so should you need to make any changes to make the DLL fit your needs better, go ahead and recompile it.
