A typical university scheduling is a very complicated logics and logistics task. The reason is the number of objects «interoperating» with each other (teachers, classes, rooms, courses), each with its own properties, and a number of factors need to be taken into account. Course length, teachers abilities, teachers vacations and global holidays, room availability, sudden changes
Number of combinations arising is definitely greater than a human can manage, even with some special tricks like tables. The problems also appear during large conferences, independent courses, company meetings, and so on.
There is a need for software capable of taking on this set of problems, the software which would be scalable, fast and easy to use. The software name is Mimoza, and it fits all the requirements in best way.
Scheduling with Mimoza is easy and transparent. First, you define the «components» the main independent essences involved in the scheduling. For a university, those can be teachers, rooms, students and classes, some scientific equipment and so on. Then, you create courses and setup which «components» they use and are to syncronize. Then, you can adjust the timings by setting up weeks (or terms, or semesters) for grouping course lectures. Finally, you can switch to Timetables, where Mimoza would use the full power of its optimizations and help you allocate the courses and resource they are to use through «time axe» and create best schedule possible! | | | Learn more about Mimoza… |
