No, it’s not going to bark and chase intruders. But it will become your all-seeing eye, reporting you of what’s happening in the places where you can’t be at the moment. Check out this new Webcam Zone Trigger software from Omega Unfold. If you install it on your computer and then hook it up to your web camera, you will obtain a high-tech spying friend that watches over your territory and promptly reports if any intruders are detected.
All you’ve got to do to get started is define the territory to be guarded by your webcam and the actions to be taken by the software. For example, if you want your webcam to watch for the entry door to your house, you can place it the way that it can see the walkroad, mailbox, door, and other near-by objects. Now circle the mailbox area on the webcam picture and set the software to play the «You’ve got mail!» sound when it captures motion in the mailbox spot. When it «sees» someone approaching your door, it might popup the screen shot and play something like «Hey, look! Someone’s here!»
Webcam Zone Trigger is so easy that even a dummy can figure it out. The majority of operations can be done with the mouse; you don’t even have to use the keyboard. It will automatically adjust to the environmental conditions, so motion detection will always be optimal for the video image. But what amazes me even more is how the authors have combined the power and the operating style. Instead of the irritating message boxes that pop-up in the best parts of movies being watched or businesses being taken care of, this software will pop-up a «toast»-like picture in the bottom-right corner of the screen, notifying you of the event in a non-intrusive way.
