When somebody decides to create a personal web-site, he/she has many options of how to host it. Selecting the right option is not an easy task: you need to look for the «right» compromise between the availability of the website, the number of available features and settings, and the cost. Cheap «virtual» hosting has normal or good availability on one hand, but it has a typically weak feature set on the other hand. A home or enterprise-based server has all the features you can imagine, but ensuring its firm availability is a hard task. Renting a dedicated server from a large hosting provider is OK by all the parameters, except cost. So, when you need to host just a small personal website or blog, you’ll choose a cheap hosting; but when you need to host a complex website for a few visitors (like a scientific page), a home server based hosting will be the right solution. However, this option brings in one huge problem: how your visitors will know the server’s address if your home IP address is set by your ISP, and it is dynamic (changes with time).
There are Dynamic DNS servers, addressing this problem (you can register your domain name like mysite.dyndns.org and manually update its real address). The last problem that remains is the MANUAL updating of the address. Instead, you can setup DynSite and be happy with it!
