Convert Monkey is file conversion software, which allows converting MSWord, Excel, Word Perfect, plain text and rich text files to various formats. You can remember many solutions I’ve talked about as «strong», as well as software I’ve called «easy», the best word for Convert Monkey is «dexterous» or «smart». I mean, with Convert Monkey, some complex operations aren’t «done exactly the way you can expect», but those operations are done much easier and with less number of actions!
First of all, let’s examine Convert Monkey’s basic features. As I’ve said above, it converts various formats to many others. It means, you can perform any conversion between Word, WordPerfect, RTF and plain text, plus converting all of them to HTML, plus converting Excel to CSV, plain text and HTML, plus… OK, let’s stop here, but remember, there are always more options.
The key to Convert Monkey’s dexterity is how it lets you select the files for the conversion. The software interface is Windows Explorer-like (folders to the left and files to the right), but these have very powerful filtering and selecting features. So, for example, you can perform a conversion of all Word files with names like «report_bla-bla.doc» in the «Reports» folder and all of its subfolders, which are older than month… in a few clicks. Really few.
