Canasta is a card game of complex fate. It was invented in Uruguay in about XX century, and discovered the world through United States. All through its way, the rules of the game have been slightly changed several times, so eventually nobody can say, what the original Canasta is. The game is typically spoken about as «one of Rummy games family», but the origin of Canasta has nothing to do with Rummy. Therefore, at least «Classic» variation exists, following a standard proposed by the Regency Club. The Canasta from Games Galore plays just this variation.
Every Canasta novice will first learn what «canasta» means. Its a «basket» in Spanish. Because the main trick in the game is to make the melds of cards (meld is a set of cards grouped according to special rules), and the best meld is Canasta meld of at least 7 cards. Games Galore Canasta is an amazing realization of this relatively old card game. It has all «computer card goodies»: smart partner, automatic score calculations and so on. It is pretty well drawn for aesthetic joy. But what is much more important, its a possibility to teach you Canasta, because of comprehensive help and demonstration game included.
