xplorer2 1.7.0.5, Classic Goodies and New Strengths

File Managers have a long history. Both their strengths and weaknesses have been strongly associated with the operating system they had been running under. In the old times, inexperienced users often thought Norton Commander *was* DOS; nowadays, they think Windows Explorer *is* Windows. The reasons for that are natural: file manager is the most frequently used utility in any OS. But, hear me, guys, Windows Explorer is not your obligatory tool; it’s weak, and it limits you in many ways! How about ANOTHER file manager, which takes the best of Explorer (its icons, extended information, views like list or thumbnails), old-days’ two-pane file managers (extreme ease of copying, moving and comparing files and folders), and other modern concepts, like several tabs with content? There is a file manager that does all that (and much more): xplorer2.
Like good old Norton Commander, it has two panes. Like native Windows Explorer, it can explore any kinds of folders — not only the physical ones, but also places like Control Panel, Network Places and FTP shares.
Each of the two panes can have any number of tabs with different folders open on them. There are numerous ways to see your folders: lists, tables, and thumbnails; grouping and filtering; and each folder remembers your choice!
