What does affect a stock quote? How can you predict, where the market will go the next moment, hour or day? — Numerous techniques have been invented for analyzing markets and prognosticating stock prices; they include extrapolating a price using earlier values of that same price — also known as «technical analysis» — and considering data from financial statements, interest rates, volumes, competitors’ prices, prices of raw materials and other variables known to affect the target prices, which all is also known as fundamental analysis.
Since technical analysis is merely a bunch of numbers, it is relatively easy to implement it in a computer program. Using some formulas and calculations, you will be able to figure out the directions and check points, where approximately the target price might be at. But how can you teach a computer to read and understand news, oil and metal prices, indices, and other human-oriented information. How will you translate a tropical storm warning, which will definitely affect the stock market, to the language of digits and formulas?
GoldenGem doesn’t speak a human language either, but it does have a bit of artificial intelligence and can learn how specific events may affect stock prices. The software registers fundamental events and stock prices during those events and figures out how a specific event affects a certain price. Once it has gathered enough of statistics, it will be able to predict the upcoming values based on the previous «experience». The special indicators will let notify you when the software «knows» enough and is ready to make a prediction. If you «feed» it with enough of statistic data, the predictions will be really accurate.
