Comparing the content of two databases or their parts is a frequent task of technical specialists in DB-aware environment. Finding differences in two datasets is an important task for migrations (changing DB structure or engine), replications, backup/restore procedures, and other analysis issues.
Writing a custom program for each case is inefficient. Fast visual application for dataset comparison (diff), understanding several database management systems (DBMS) can be a godsend here. CompareData is a godsend.
CompareData can handle a huge number of DBMS (in fact, virtually any, which you have an ODBC driver for). The software can easily compare the database’s overall structure with all the metadata (tables, their keys and column types, views, stored procs, triggers, permissions) as well as specific data in two tables or results of two queries. While comparing data, CompareData allows you to set the correspondence between different column names and their types, so you can easily compare the REAL data, without requirement of having the full structural identity.
