What can be easier than editing a file? Simply open it and replace a block of text with a better one. Well, true, if theres just one file to be edited. But doing the same with a few or, even better, a whole bunch of files that require the same replacement? Then youll need something like a batch editing tool.
A great choice is RQ Search and Replace. What it does, as the name suggests, is finds specified blocks of text in the provided batch of files and then replaces those blocks with a new one.
The replacers most notable feature is the capability to understand and parse documents of diverse formats, from plain text through markup languages like HTML and even rich text or MS Word. If you point it to a folder and specify the files you are seeking for, it will automatically search for the files there and in all the subfolders, replacing the specified fragments as you define.
Another great thing about the software is that it can replace blocks of any size or length, including multi-line text blocks, entire words, «enclosed blocks», HTML tags and attributes, allowing you to preview the replacement result.
The built-in powerful backup manager ensures the safety of all replacement operations. The replacement settings can be exported to an external file and shared with other editors. The same way, the application can import a predefined settings file and do the search and replacement according to those instructions.
RQ Search and Replace will be of a great help to everyone who needs to edit large volumes of diverse documents and maintain a high precision of the result.
