#7Z 0.7.2, Archiving With Grace And Power

In essence, #7Z (reads as «sharp seven zet») is an interface for free and effective 7-Zip compressing/extracting algorithm and library.
But in fact, #7Z software is powerful general-purpose archiver software; I even tend to think it is the ONLY archiver software you’ll ever need.
A small, fast, customizable, universal tool — that is how #7Z behaves in your hands.
There are separate requirements you’ll have when you create archives and when you extract files from the existing ones and #7Z is the best for both ways.
When you compress, you have a reasonable selection of formats: 7z, which is the most effective, Zip (the most widespread in the Windows world), Tar, Gzip, Bzip2 (the same for the Linux/Unix world); for any of them you can select different compression methods and levels. Of course, you can create encrypted (password-protected), self-extracting or solid (non-updatable) archives despite the selected format. #7Z also shortens the most frequent cases, like «mirror a directory structure», or «archive each input into a separate archive». The whole set of options can be saved/restored as a «profile».
