When its crucial to have all of your network hosts online at all times, keeping an eye on all network components is quite a chore. Nevertheless, making sure all hosts are online is just a fraction of the job. The other side of it is making sure that all hosts are maintaining all their designated connections properly.
sMonitor a network monitoring suite can turn the job into a pleasure. The application attempts to establish a connection to specified hosts (which can be both computers and networked devices, sitting in the next room or on the other side of the globe) and get the current picture by reading those hosts responses. If the destination host fails to reply to a ping, connection request, or user datagram, sMonitor will alert you with a sound, on-screen message or e-mail message.
Oh, if that was enough! When an alarm goes off, the work is just about to begin; youd have to figure out how to fix the problem and actually get that done.
Again, sMonitor is there to lend you a hand. Based on test results, the program can get in touch with a remote host via a telnet or dial-up connection and, for instance, reboot or do something else on that host on your behalf, using a common scripting language.
To obtain the overall statistics on the performance of your network, you can have the program create a monitoring report and send it to you via e-mail or upload it to your FTP site.
Summing it up, with this software you can keep a network at your fingertips without having to leave your chair.
