PolyEdit can be called a «new word» (in some sense) in the word processing software. It provides rich functionality, pretty and consistent user interface and some non-trivial but very useful, tricky capabilities.
The small setup file (only 1.5 MB to download) would really surprise you after the installation; all of the common features for the complex document editing that we are used to are here.
Compare the program with your favorite (bloated) «office suite» and try to find a feature that PolyEdit does not have! With all this going on, the software is incredibly fast on my ancient computer, a 7-megabyte MS Word document (with complex tables, unusual fonts, and lots of other formatting) opened up in just a moment (well, much faster than it would open in Word), and the formatting has been delicately preserved.
Nevertheless, the way PolyEdit extends the standard «word-processor» paradigm allows me to call it a «brand new Word». Ill only highlight the coolest of its features. Easy to enter, organize, and paste text snippets. Clipboard manager with the auto-capture clipboard capability. Some useful adoptions from the «development editors» (line numberings, syntax highlighting, IntelliComplete). Mail agent. Want to know *full* list? Try it yourself.
All this comes with a clear and convenient user interface and will run fast even on an ancient PC. | | | Learn more about PolyEdit… |
