Sniffers pack from Ufasoft is a suite for doing all about «network sniffing» — catching and analyzing all packets walking through a network. The software of this class is a very powerful but somewhat dangerous tool, which is only appropriate for the system administrator’s tool pack. Moreover, we can say, every admin, when achieves the «master» level, understands the necessity (and the danger) of a good sniffer.
OK, you’ll ask, what can *this par* sniffer do? Oh, it can do a plenty of cool things. First of all, it catches ALL network packets walking through the network card; due to the typical network topology, there would be not only packets addressed for this particular computer. Second, the software contains a couple of packet analyzers, each handling a specific type of network communications. The analyzer reads packet bytes and translates them into human readable data, like addresses, data types, requests, etc. Moreover, the suite includes an IM Sniffer, which gives much more detailed info on communications like ICQ, AIM, e-mail.
