You are a lucky person if you’ve never had your phone lost or stolen. If you have gone through that at least once, you do know how much of effort it takes — if that’s at all possible — to find out where the phone is or, at least, where it might be searched for; the lost device won’t be able to shout for help or tell you where it is... — Unless it has the W.I.M.P. software installed on the device.
Running silently in the background, the program ensures the phone is protected at all times. It certainly won’t turn on the siren when it detects the phone is no longer in your hand. Nor will it punish the thief by electro shocking the bad guy. But in the event your phone has slipped away, you can stay informed of its current location and pass that data over to the police or whoever would be helping you find your device. All that would take is simply sending a special short text message to your mobile number. In exchange, you will receive a message with the phone’s GPS location in a format which can be entered into any common mapping application; e.g., Google Maps.
Even if the thief gets rid of your SIM card and replaces it with a new one, the W.I.M.P. application will automatically detect the substitution and provide you with the new number, which you can also use for tracking the location of the device or even calling the person!
The W. I.M.P software won’t let just anyone to track and control your phone; you would have to set up a four-digit authorization code that you’d have to provide in your tracking SMS messages.
