First released in 1985, Tetris has been cloned and modified a countless number of times. Today, it is available on virtually every gaming platform ever released in hundreds of variations and can well be called the most popular game of all times. Although Tetris is a game, entertainment is not its primary purpose. Tetris improves your reaction and teaches you to make quick decisions based on the current situation, which is a great skill in any respect. Literally translated as «falling numbers» from Dutch, Valgetal is a game that uses mathematic operations for placing blocks on the game board. The rule is quite simple — when creating a vertical column, make sure the top block is the sum of the two underlying ones. If you make a mistake, the game penalizes you by reducing the size of the container, which makes it much harder to control subsequent blocks. Don’t get an illusion that Valgetal is simple — 20 levels with ever-increasing difficulty for each basic maths operation will be a real challenge even for those players who think they are super-fast number-crunchers! The game is an ideal educational tool for children learning maths at school and a great way to spend a short break in a busy workday for any adult. Valgetal’s interface is available in English, Friesian, Dutch, German and Spanish.
