Transcribing chords and learning to play a song you like takes time, ear for music and education. But do you really need to enroll into a music school to just learn to play a few songs? — Of course not: Have someone transcribe the chords of your favorite song for you and show you how to play them. If you don’t have any music experts around, get D’Accord iChords and let it get those chords for you. It relieves you from hassling with guesswork and lets you learn to play a song quickly.
iChords is a plugin for Windows Media Player. It uses the application’s standard means for playing songs and adds own components for displaying «extracted» chords on the screen. Load your music in the player — the program «understands» music in the CD, MP3, WAV and WMA formats — and hit the play button. As the song is being played, the program automatically recognizes the chords from it and shows them on a virtual guitar or keyboard, along with the fingering and intervals. You can replay the song keeping an eye on the fingering or you can add printable lyrics to it. For this specific purpose, the program has an internal chords notepad, where you can edit chords, automatically transpose them to a new key, add or edit lyrics and print all that with chord diagrams for guitar and keyboard. With the built-in audio editor, you can easily change the chords and add the lyrics to your song. Now, just watch where and how to place your finger and learn the lyrics, as the player plays the song and shows the chord being played and the one to be played next. The plugin comes with a gallery of guitar styles you can choose from, including a guitar for left-handed players.
