Despite the abundance of all kinds of file managers on the market, the majority of users still prefer the good old Windows Explorer for their daily file and folder management tasks. With its easy to access and use functions and a simple interface, Explorer is perfectly suited for an average user. However, it does lack some handy features, such as file comparison, and this is exactly what diff-ext was created for!
Diff-ext is a super-compact shell extension that enables you to quickly and conveniently launch third-party file comparison tools installed on the computer, compare 2 or 3 files in the same folder and even mark files in different locations for future comparison. In this case, the name of the files will be added to the most recently used (MRU) list that will be used by the file comparison tool afterwards. Using the program is extremely easy — just select 2 or 3 files, right-click on them and choose the corresponding comparison option. You can also open the context menu and select one of the recently used files from the list. Apart from files, the program also enables you to compare entire folders. At the moment, diff-ext supports Russian, English, German, Ukrainian and Japanese languages and keeps a log of comparisons.
If you need a free solution for fast and easy file comparison in Windows Explorer, check our diff-ext — it’s a small extension that will make a big difference in the way you work with files!
