The standard Windows search function has always been a moderately useful tool for finding files with names that you remembered and text in indexed documents. However, each time you needed to find something deeper under the surface, the process turned into a real challenge. The standard Windows search is far less flexible and powerful than most query engines, so you cannot combine search parameters to find specific items the way you do in database applications or even online search engines. If you work with vast arrays of files and need to be able to quickly find files and documents using complex combinations of properties, you should check out Search Assistant!
Search Assistant is a user-friendly tool for composing Advanced Query Syntax (AQS) searches within Windows Desktop Search. As you may know, Windows uses the Windows Property System that manages file and folder properties, thus allowing programs and the OS itself to make quick and accurate file selections. Search Assistant is fully compatible with this system and intelligently suggests properties relevant to the selected item, so you only see the properties you need to see. The interface of the program was designed for everyone, so creating complex queries will not be something that requires a technical degree. Search results can be displayed and previewed in the program’s own search window or passed to Windows Explorer. Advanced users will definitely appreciate the possibility to save searches in AQS, SQL and MS Search Protocol formats and customize the interface of the program.
Search Assistant is an immensely powerful tool extending the search functionality of your operating system, so make sure to check it out in action!
